Solidifying a Collaborative Relationship at GreenFields of Geneva

Solidifying a collaborative relationship…this is the intent of the GreenFields resident council  which was launched this fall. “Our thought was to create this opportunity for residents wanting to join and serve as a voice amongst their peers, while collaborating with management for improvement opportunities, service expectations and ideas for programs, and to help create lifestyle choices at GreenFields. We want activities to be resident-driven,” said Judi Donovan, executive director of GreenFields. “While making GreenFields the residents’ homes, there’s no better way than by creating a council where they have a voice.”

Don Wenhart, formerly of Darien, is the president of the newly formed council. “There’s power in ideas and thoughts,” he said, explaining his interest in leading the group. “I’m interested in making a contribution to the development of the community. It’s a new community and I wanted to be part of making it the best beginning we could make.”

“Our basic role is to maintain positive rapport with management, and to reflect the concerns, issues and ideas of the residents. We will maintain the good lines of communication that already exist. This is always essential but even more so with the growth that we’re experiencing,” said Wenhart. “We want to make it the best place we can make it. It’s wonderful now as a matter of fact. We want to make it even better if we can.”

“A really big part of this for me ties back to the mission of our organization of keeping friendship at the center of everything we do. In the spirit of friendship, we’re making sure we deliver on service expectations,” said Donovan.
