(ST CHARLES) Vero Voce Theater, St Charles, is proud to announce its upcoming "New Playwright Festival!" The production will offer up- and- coming playwrights the opportunity to have their one act plays produced and performed on Vero Voce's live stage.

"As an actor and a writer, I understand how difficult it can be to find a venue to produce your show, especially if it's only a one act," says David M. Rodriguez, Artistic Director of Vero Voce's Theatre Company "This is something I always wished people would do for me, so we figured why not give that opportunity to writers out there."

The New Playwright Festival runs February 20 – March 9, 2014, Thursday – Saturday at 8:00 pm and Sunday at 3:00 pm at Vero Voce, 951 State Avenue, Suite F, St Charles, Illinois.

“We are very proud to present these new plays written by local playwrights.” said Dennis Brown, producer of the shows. “The quality and intensity of the majority of these plays is astounding. While we are giving the playwrights and outlet for their hard work, we are also presenting our audiences with some excellent material.”

Playwrights with new works in the festival include David Alex, Kristin Cotts, Mike Huth, Eric Peter Schwartz, George Freek, Donna Latham, Marianya, Robert Lundin, Steven Delaney and Carl Zeitler.

Each weekend a different selection of submitted works from local playwrights may be seen. The same eight shows will be seen each night of the weekend, with a different selection of plays each weekend for a total of 24 one-act plays over the 3 week period. Patrons will have the option of purchasing one adult show ticket for $15 ($9 children), or a reduced rate festival ticket costing $35 for adults ($21 children). The festival ticket allows the holder to attend one performance for each of the three weekends.
