CyberCycling Comes to Friendship Village

They can navigate speedways, explore China, traverse forests and even chase dragons, all without leaving their home. Friendship Village’s CyberCycles have enticed residents, to love exercising. The high-tech exergame equipment features more than 40 virtual destinations, games, challenges and more. Most importantly, the outcome is that riders are strengthening their bodies while also stimulating their minds. “The CyberCycle forces the ‘rider’ to pay attention, navigate terrain and remain engaged, all while getting a great work out,” said Jessica Enriquez, exercise physiologist serving Friendship Village for Alliance Rehab/Senior Fit. Studies show that the equipment has a tremendous positive impact on users’ physical and cognitive well being.

Few retirement communities have CyberCycles. “It’s really expensive, but one of the beautiful things about Friendship Village is that we’re innovative and really invested in the residents’ well-being,” said Jessica.

Friendship Village is a leading Chicago-area retirement community offering a complete continuum of care including independent living garden homes and apartment homes, as well as assisted living, memory support, skilled care, and short- and long-term rehabilitation services.
