Batavia United Way Kicks Off Annual Campaign

Allocations Totaling $100,000 Will Directly Benefit Batavians

Batavia, Ill – October 22, 2013 – The board of directors for Batavia United Way has set an ambitious goal for fundraising for its 20013-2014 campaign. After an extensive grant process, the non-profit group is allocating $100,000 towards 23 programs that directly benefit Batavians.

Jody Haltenhof, executive director of Batavia United Way, says this is the most the group has allocated since 2007-2008. Since 1997-1998, Batavia United Way has granted over $1.5 million to local agencies.

“Although it is not an easy task to raise funds of this magnitude in Batavia, the need is clearly evident in the applications we received,” says Haltenhof. “Each of the programs funded address needs within one of the three areas United Way concentrates: education, income and health.”

The 23 programs are operated by the following 18 area agencies: A.I.D., Assissi Homes/Batavia Apartments, Batavia Park District/Teen Center, Boy Scouts/Three Fires Council, Day One Network, and the Elderday Center. Also, Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice, Lazarus House, Literacy Volunteers Fox Valley, RSVP, Salvation Army/Golden Diners, Salvation Army/Tri-City Corps, Senior Services Associates, Suicide Prevention Services, TriCity Family Services, Tri City Health Partnership, Valley Sheltered Workshop, and Water Street Studios.

Haltenhof says there are several ways to donate to Batavia United Way. After receiving the residential mailing in November, send a check in the enclosed return envelope. (If you misplaced your envelope, mail to P.O. Box 372, Batavia, IL. 60510.) You can also inquire about a United Way campaign at your place of employment; payroll deductions can be directed back to the Batavia United Way. Finally, go online at www.BataviaUnitedWay.org and contribute on a secure site.

Batavia United Way thanks you for continuing to create opportunities and inspire hope for a better tomorrow in Batavia. To find out more about United Way and how small steps can make a great change when we all Live United, call Jody Haltenhof at 630-879-4041.
