 nitiative\, the Art Institute of Chicago&rsquo\;s significant collection
  of Claude Monet paintings has recently received in-depth technical exam
 ination and scientific analysis. Through investigative imaging technique
 s\, X-radiography and infrared reflectography\, and state-of-the-art ana
 lytical methods\, conservators can delve beneath the surface of Monet&rs
 quo\;s paintings to learn about his materials and working methods\, and 
 how his compositions evolved during the painting process.\nKimberley H. 
 Muir\, assistant research conservator at the Art Institute of Chicago\, 
 talks about the tools used byconservators and scientists and offers high
 lights of the most exciting discoveries about Monet&rsquo\;s materials a
