Oh yeah, Vera switched to Pro Life and when that name was banned as well, he is now Disciple. Anyone want to take bets as to how long this name will last before it's banned and he switches to a new one?

Now the fun starts! The House will not support tax increases for the rich so everyone's taxes will go up on Jan 1, 2013! Obamacare will be the law of the land for at least 4 years! Those of you with jobs...watch...you may be going to part time status (30 hours...it's already started) so your company can avoid the Obamacare Mandate or the tax! That means many of you will have to buy your own insurance or pay the tax which is not insurance! If we do go off the fiscal cliff on Jan 1, not only will taxes go up on everyone, but mandatory cuts to governmental spending go into effect! The Military gets the biggest cuts! (watch for increased terror attacks!) Iran will most likely get the nuke...watch out Israel and large western cities!!! All this and more! Couldn't happen to nicer administration... :)

Obamacare was great when it was "Romneycare". Romney lost because he lied over and over again. His flip flopping to benefit himself didn't work. Can anyone say "Bain Capital". What he did for women, nothing but take their rights away.( I guess we're going to have to remove the chains from the ovens) The morons from his party should have kept their traps closed, acceptable rape, really?. The teabaggers hurt him big time. They are seen as a bunch of spoiled boys who have it either their way or no way, grow up all ready. If the Republicans want a chance in the future they're going to need to start to participate on all levels. The dark ages are over and they need to jump on the train for any chance in the future.
The president won the popular vote, it has been 8 elections since the Republicans won that, somethings wrong with the party, Wake Up! Imo the biggest problem is the taxes! When you have the middle class paying 2-3x's what the 2%pay SOMETHING'S WRONG! Time for a flat tax across the board, time to go after the tax dodggers from both parties! I've had my fill of the coddling our rich.

Bring the jobs home to the USA, no more tax breaks for OUTSOURCING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Walt, I like your idea of a flat tax but one correction has to be made. In regards to the middle class paying 2-3 times more than the 1% pay is factually incorrect. There are a small portion of wealthy that live off of short term capital gains at 15% and this does include Romney but also all hedge fund managers and others. Most wealthy individuals pay more as a percentage than the middle class and the poor pay nothing in federal income taxes.

Truth, I'm sure that I pay more in taxes than the upper bracket in certain areas. I use the American banking system not the Chinese, Swiss, Cayman islands etc.. When I file my taxes any money I have in a savings account is taxed. How much money does Romney or anyone else whose dodges taxes pay? Hell, I'm sure some of them are probably getting tax refunds. Either way the system is broke and needs to be fixed. We all use the same services we all need to pay equal, period!

ag, I have voted Republican 95% of the time, but not this one. I found Romney to be a liar time and time again. He was a bad choice, they could have done better. As far as our entitlement programs welfare needs an overhaul! You have your welfare babies and that has to stop.

Walt, the wealthy are rich for a reason. Many wealthy people use bank accounts in other countries because the interest rate is higher. Also, the F.D.I.C. only guarantees 250K of your money. Other countries have higher guarantees. If you had that kind of money you would be doing the same.

Those of you who love unions...get used to being layed off! It's unlikely that your union will accept your going to 30 hours per week as your companies choose between the Obama Mandate of providing insurance or paying the tax! The move to a 30 hour work week is already in motion!!! That's the truth!!! Companies will not have to either buy insurance or pay the tax if they move to part time employees! Of course, you will be required to buy insurance or pay the tax!!! LOL Some of you may get lucky, but others of your union brethren won't be! Business is poised to go into very low gear. As business pulls back even farther, fewer jobs will be created and prices will rise. I look FORWARD to the new Socialist Paradise! :)

Really its very sad. Using Romney/Bain as example do the hard working Americans, regardless of color and gender, deserve to have their jobs shipped over sea? Have you ever been hungry? Worried that your kids have no where to sleep and be safe?? There are plenty of ways welfare.... food stamps your words.... can be reformed but to broadly state that anyone on these programs is there is by choice doesn't appear to show your humanity in its best light. Decency is feeding your neighbor when they are hungry. I am going to go out on limb and state you are the person who ignores the person asking for money on the corner. Worried that they will use it for liquer? Drugs? A better solution with fast food rest. on every corner take 10 minutes and get food then personally hand it to a fellow AMERICAN in need. The decency left this country with the far right a long time ago. If you're going to cheer a U.S. Congressman yelling "Liar" at the President during a State of the Union address, let's talk about decency. That shouldn't happen under any circumstances.

Both the far left and the far right need to move closer to the center in order for us to even get started on fixing the country's problems and get us on solid ground for the future.

I survived 8 years of Bill Clinton and many feel the same about George Bush. We'll survive four more years of Barack Obama, hopefully in better shape than now. The election is over, let's do what's right for America.

Those are the people that should be receiving disability, not the ones

who truly need these programs to survive but so many who have taken advantage for way too long. These people want the government to support them all their lives
without taking any responsibility.

Vicky - the President didn't so much win as the Republicans lost. If you want to have a better shot at taking the presidency then run a fiscal conservative who believes that government should have less involvement in people's day-to-day decisions, don't have your campaign managers tell your candidate to promise/say entirely different things depending on which state he or she is standing in, stop cowering before and appeasing the rabid screams of the far-right, and leave the religious proclamations to the Churches.

Yeah I didnt Vote because i didnt think either candidate was good enough for this Country or were going to help the American people. I think the American people should be able to choose who the candidates are instead of the Government. Dont you think the Governement chooses enough for the people without asking them??? I pay almost $400 a month in taxes only making $12 an hour working 40 hours, paying for my own school on top of them cutting the funds for grants for Students!!! DO YOU THINK THAT IS FAIR??? DO YOU THINK THAT IS OBAMA DOING A GOOD JOB??? Plus with OBAMA CARE I will have to pay more than what my health insurance is now a month!! How will i survive???? Will the governement be there then after all the money they are taking from me leaving me $1200 a month after taxes and Obama care to live off??? I could work more but the more i work the more they talk....... and you only get government help if you have no job, so what are my options with OBAMA being President? Now all of you Obama supporters answer me that?

Jeff, taxes won't be reduced but are going up for everyone. No one is exempt from tax increases. The federal and state deficits are too large for just the wealthy to cover. Taxes will be going up dramatically to cover the cost of the new healthcare law. Over 20 new taxes will be implemented to help cover the cost of healthcare. There will continue to be hidden taxes created every year that you don't notice. The middle class will continue to get hit with taxes.

@ Michael - I would rather experience European socialism than the kind of 3rd world economy that a Romney presidency would have brought. Romney & Bain Capital did create thousands of jobs - in China - that pay less than $1/hr. And it funny that those socialist European countries your ilk likes to denigrate have a higher standard of living, better education system, better health care, less poverty and lower unemployment & homelessness than we do here in the US. I guess you would want all the people who do the real work in this country to work 12 - 16hr days 6 days a week in factories that are enclosed by razor wire fences w/suicide nets on them like those Chinese factories. Socialism is better than Fascism any day.

Stones, that is the problem. The unemployment rate doesn't include those who have used up all their unemployment benefits and have given up all HOPE of finding a job and only have CHANGE in their pockets. It also ignores the under employed and those that could only find a part time job.

So, calculating all that in the unemployment rate, the number should be around 14%. It is 22% in Las Vegas and they relect Obama & Harry in Nevada? go figure. The unemployment rate of black youths is around 35%, and around 14% in the black community as a whole. But as TRUTH has pointed out above these fools and lots of others keep re-electing the same people.

Comment_arrow

9:54 am on Wednesday, November 7, 2012

my opinion, clearly it's a problem. The unemployment rates have been calculated the same way throughout history. Which means they have always been skewed. So now because it makes the President looks bad, we want to add in other factors?

Similar, hearing about 40 months of unemployment being over 8%. When it dipped to 7.8%, the numbers were cooked. I understand about the under-employed, I'm one of them. I lost my job due to the recession while George Bush was President and now make 35% less than I used to make and that's after nearly two years without a job.

I'm also a realist and see the economic indicators are pointing in the right direction. I want to see that continue. The Republicans should have slated a better candidate, Romney wasn't the answer and this is reaffirmed by the voters.

Should we watch these AMERICANS die? no I am not being dramatic or being too soft hearted I believe we should keep our jobs here even if Americans have to pay a little bit more to keep our labor force strong.
I will gladly pay more for AMERICAN made products to keep our union men and women working and moving ahead. Remember the bridge collaspes? Infrastructure needs to be made strong. Me and mine have also felt the overwhelming decline in our economy, also we receive no assistance. Instead we pulled in our belts did with less and became a multi-generational home. We have also watched the slow painful recovery of our country. It took the last four years to repair the Bush years ...Jr and Sr. .... Jobs are opening up. We can and do whatever it takes. We are a Proud Union home. Lets be honest every American has felt the pinch .... going back to the greedy republican ethics is not the right answer. I have many ideas on welfare reform .... most if not all "politically incorrect". The country has decided its fate now we need the so called "Adults" representing us to do their damdest to fix this. Tinley park mom,

WOW....sorry to say but 49% to 51% isn't a mandate. 50% of America is happy today and 50% isn't.

Some people would say that it is a good thing that one party isn't controlling everything. Definition of DEADLOCK - nothing gets done including taking more of my hard earned money.

Obama wasted his leverage to do anything about the economy during his first 2 years. Instead of working on the economy he passed ObamaCare, which is a 50/50 split as to who is happy with it.

Besides he has no clue how to fix the economy. Didn't take Reagan four years to turn the economy around.

Yes, it was in bad shape....10% unemployment, inflation running wild (12% inflation & 16% mortgages rates), high fuel prices, the mideast a tinder box, deficeit, and poor moral around the country. Any of this sound familar?

His second term was a true mandate - he won 49 states.

I don't get my information from traditional media outlets, and neither should you. And your labeling me as a bigot could not be more off the mark. The fact that 47% are not paying taxes is a problem for this country -- I am not putting forth a reason or a group to vilify here, it's a fact! When half our country doesn't pay fed taxes, where is the money going to come from? Why don't you spend your time putting forth some real ideas of your own instead of attacking a stranger you have never met with vitriol that you learned from your political party. I will say it again, I am not a republican. Oh, and Tax Cuts? That's not spending, that's just not earning. Feel free to ask if you need me to educate you further Tinley Park Mom.

I heard an interesting statistic last night on Fox. In an exit poll, well over 60% of voters, regardless of how they voted for President, said that the deficit issue should not be resolved by raising taxes.

Now, Brit Hume admitted that if the question dealt only with taxes on the wealthy, the answer would probably be different. But, if you're a Republican member of Congress, and you know that 60% or more of your constituents are against raising taxes, are you going to seriously consider any proposal from the White House that looks to raise taxes?

It was suggested that Republicans could vote for a tax increase, if there is significant reductions in entitlements, including welfare, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security. Absent that, the GOP isn't about to go along with a tax increase.

I will argue that Barack Obama learned about getting along with Republicans from the likes of Richie Daley and Mike Madigan, which means marginalizing the opposition and trying to run roughshod over them.

If the President and House Democrats want to try and get the Republicans to serously talk about compromise, then House Democrats have to dump Nancy Pelosi as there leader and replace her with Stenny Hoyer, who is far more diplomatic than Pelosi. Former Congressman Dick Armey has joked for years that Hoyer is his wife's favorite Democrat, and she is picky about Democrats she likes.

This is the beauty of the system. The republicans control the congress. Congressmen are solely responsible to their constituents, not the rest of the state as is a Senator. So for all those congressional winners (majority republicans) the message is DON'T RAISE TAXES! They couldn't care less what Jesse Jr's or any another blue district’s constituents want, they have orders to not raise taxes.
So, now the president will have to do something he refused to do in his first term, compromise. (see Bob Woodward’s book)
I hope that the president will somehow see the light and work with the legislative branches to stem the tide of free handouts, aka ENTITLEMENTS. If not you can start calling us the North American branch of Western Europe.

A majority of women voters were more concerned about their right to kill their unborn babies. They seemed to have no concern that the children now will be forced to pay back the huge debt this current president has caused. Will they be able to find decent healthcare, I don't believe so. Will they have the opportunity to go to college and if so will there be a job waiting for them. Glad they will still have the right to kill their unborn babies.

Comment_arrow

1:18 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2012

Linda, If unborn children are 'people';
Why do we not hold funerals for a natural miscarriage?
Why do people say we have 2 kids, with one on the way? Shouldn't they say they have 3 kids?
How come the census doesn't count them?

It is you who is going against the majority of people, not the other way around. The demographics have shifted(and will continue to even more). It is time for you to get out of the way now, and let the next generation decide how they want to live.

Comment_arrow

tim
I have seen for myself through ultrasounds that unborn children are people. As for your question about funerals for natural miscarriages I'm not sure what point you were trying to get at. Some people do have services for miscarried children and remember you said natural isn't that considered a will of God, if you believe, not an intentional killing. My point was that many women were more concerned about this right then the right of children living now to live in a country where they won't be taxed to death, will be able to find a job and decent healthcare. Not sure what your point was

Comment_arrow

Tim

2:52 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2012

And if people do it, isn't the 'will of god' also? If so, nothing changes from it being natural. If not, why bother caring what he thinks about it in the first place anymore than what a leprechaun thinks about it. Most people understand they are responsible for their own life choices, and have decided not to leave it up to their imaginary friend.

Your life is full of internal inconsistencies. Stop trying to push your fairy-tale confusion about the world you live in on those who know better. If you like abortions, the solution is easy. Don't get one. I don't like that you live in a fantasy world where an imaginary friend dictates your life, but I am not so arrogant to think that a law needs to be passed to prevent you from doing it just because I don't agree with it. My solution is easy, I don't let fictional characters dictate how I live my life. I don't need a law to validate my life choices.

Nobody is going to be taxed to death, stop being a drama queen. I will pesronally be paying higher taxes on my capital gains, but I am not so confused to think it will tax me to death. Actually, I am quite fine with being taxed more on my capital gains. It didn't exactly take a lot of physical labor to sit around and wait for my money to turn into more money. After all, it is STILL lower than regular income is taxed at.

Your ignorance, is not equal to others knowledge.

Comment_arrow

Michael M.

3:26 pm on Wednesday, November 7, 2012

Tim, people do have funerals for miscarriages and stillborn babies. Your problem is you have no moral compass. God decides what is life, not man. You have chosen to believe in man and not God. So your morals change as society changes. In your world anything can be right, because their is no higher power that you have to answer to. Have fun explaining that when the time comes.

What if a woman was raped and got pregnant?

Do you agree with Todd Akin, who said "women's bodies have a way of shutting that down"?

Do you agree with Richard Mourdock, the recently defeated Senate candidate from Indiana, who said "pregnancy from rape is a gift from God"?

What about women who are low income wage earners and can't afford to have a child? (Don't say they shouldn't be having sex either!)

Do you support public welfare programs (food stamps, WIC, etc.)?

If you say "no" to any of these questions, you're not "pro-life". You're "anti-abortion".

It is amazing how none of you on both sides really knows how our political system is supposed to work. But, you will learn, it will be the hard way, but , you will learn.

Be careful how much you earn, you don't want to earn 250K or you will have to pay the taxes that you have advocated for, you wouldn't want to be the 1%. Don't get sick or you will be the victim of the healthcare that you voted for, after all it is only fair that we all have healthcare, even if it is inadequate, at least it is fair.

We all know that life is fair, it was promised to us, wasn't it? When you were born there was a certificate that was attached to your foot that said "FROM NOW ON LIFE WILL ALWAYS BE FAIR"

Everything will be fair from now, until it isn't. When you become the the person that you complain about, it will all of a sudden be unfair. So please do not try to be an innovator or an entrepreneur, because it wouldn't be fair for you to succeed and for no one else to succeed.

I am sure you will have plenty of comments about my post. Save them because I don't care about them, it would be unfair of me to care, because I would have to care about the rest of the posts on the Patch, just to be fair.

I'm not a big fan of the work the president did, but I'm even more tired of the right wing radical and their dumb arguments, their willingness to sabotage any government initiative and their constant whining.
I hope you guys are happy. You had the election in your hands but you lost it because the majority of moderates got tired of you. I hope you learn your lesson but I doubt it.
I can see you will spend the next 4 years complaining about:
- how unfair it’s for the 1% to pay higher taxes;
- how unfair to provide mandate everybody buy health insurance;
- how the president is not American;
- how he is a muslin and a radical member of a Christian church in Chicago;
- how he secretly will take your beloved guns away;
- that regulations are bad for the economy (I know you cannot remember that deregulation created this mess);
- that immigrants want to destroy this country and get a free ride.
Enjoy it, you well deserve it.

"That's not fair!!" That sounds like something a kid says when they're trying to get their way or something they want that they really don't deserve. Real life absolutely does not work that way, right? Grown, responsible people know that "FAIR" does not mean "SAME".

Fair: free from bias, dishonesty, or injustice; legitimately sought, pursued, done, given; proper under a set of rules –as in "Obama won the election fair and square."

Once you understand the difference and apply it to your own life, you'll see that no one is really asking for everything to be the SAME for everyone. How boring (and unAmerican)! I feel most just want fairness in treatment and opportunity! All people are different. Each has unique abilities and challenges. Each has different needs and wants. Fairness acknowledges these differences. I believe that the President understands this distinction. Those who equate fairness with sameness, frankly, get what they deserve for their ignorance of the difference between the two. Unfortunately, they also usually have the same kinds of tantrums and rants a spoiled, petulant teenager who doesn't get a car for their 16th birthday might.

Smart adults avoid the trap of trying to make everything the same in pursuit of mythical fairness.

RB, know the definition of a moderate? Someone who doesn't believe in anything strongly enough to stand up for it.

All I see is blah, blah, blah auspicious (or smith, whoever you want to be today). Except for the part where you say Obama is for everyone. Not true. If he was for everyone he would not skirt around the officials elected by the people, whom he supposedly represents. He only stands for his own arrogant ideas, and constitution and people who disagree be damned. Well, this time, he got fewer votes and barely half of them at that. He better listen to the other half this time and compromise. Time for him to put his arrogance aside.

Unfortunately we have seen obama's best, doesn't leave much HOPE for the future.

By the way Harry reid is already spouting off about not compromising in the Senate. So, why would anyone expect the house to compromise.

Time for Obama to do his job and run the country, not pass off his responsibilities to Reid and Pelosi.

How many people are living in the USA? I know that when I voted late yesterday afternoon there weren't many people in my district who voted.

Romney had a voter problem since this is how elections are won. All the people who wanted him in should have knocked on doors and done whatever it takes to get their votes in. Sounds to me that there wasn't enough support for the guy.

Just out of curiosity what jobs was he going to create? I heard all the blabble, he changed his answers so much that I think he forgot what he planned on doing. Jeep sending jobs to China put the icing on the cake. His lies caught up with him.

Koch Brothers are a tad bit upset today. They have all the money in the world and they still couldn't get their guy in, gotta love it!!!

Obama did fail. From day one the GOP was angry that he won & there was no way they would work with him. They formed a wall & wouldn't let him do anything. Had the GOP come up with a better candidate, maybe we would have a new Pres. Instead, they gave us a candidate who thinks middle income is $250k. I can't believe all of you are independently wealthy enough to not need Medicare in a few years. Obamacare is a blue print of Romneycare. I don't believe the poor should get all the handouts either but I don't think we should hand all the money over to the rich. The hedge fund investment managers knew Romney was their guy...no regulations in making millions off of others. The people working in the coal mines loved Romney because he said he would use their coal but behind closed doors he said no to coal...too dangerous. He told people exactly what they wanted to hear & turned around and laughed in their faces. He wants FEMA to be controlled by states or private sector. Tell that to the victims of the hurricane. He wants the states to control everything...knowing the states can't afford it & then the problem will go away. The GOP put Bush in hiding this past year. They didn't want him to be part of the campaign because they knew he was the beginning of the decline. Arrogance in this government is running rampant. You want to save this country? Then encourage the GOP to work with the President; work towards saving the people, not saving themselves.

Yipe! Hey CB, why don't send some of your original words to the White House. Clearly, they are going to need all of the blessings you offered here and then some. Furthermore, if I want to be sad, then it is my right to be sad and it is my right to voice my opinion. You see, I want to do it as much as possible before those rights are taken away....which is what your President is all about. I cannot believe how many people are fooled by this man. Thanks in advance for the blessing, CB...you can bless yourself, too! Oh, and I hope you continue to enjoy all of the free handouts I'm sure your getting. Puke!

Now the economy will be crippled more, companies afraid to hire because
of the uncertainty with the new health care. Obama has really screwed us over

But look at the comments on this board. There are the Obama supporters who are happy and see that is was a great night. America and Americans won, well except for billionaires. You see John Boner and Mitch McConnel on tv today saying they won't give an inch. You have the Faux news network on collective suicide watch but well enough to continue with the lies and hate. You have Trump tweet REVOLUTION. Obama won and he deserves everyones support. If his programs fail, we'll recover. Just like we've almost recovered from the 8 yrs of dummyBush. Its 2012, not 1950. We have to adjust or die. If some programs have a socialist angle, fine. 100% pure Capitalism/ Free Markets don't work, never have and will continue to get worse. It creates greed, look at the Walton family or the Kock Bros. Both of whom stick it up every workers butt, in the name of accumulating more money. Thats not right, and their fortune is based on, not only their idea and hard work but also to their workers. And their workers need to be treated fairly and appreciated. Obama is a good man and one who truely believes in America and the American dream. But the American dream has been hijacked by corporation so full of greed at any cost. Corporations that send money or jobs oversea's should be taxed to the full extent in order to get their products back in the US. Its time everyone puts country first, not profit. If they are honest, make a great product and take care of workers, they'll be fine.
