Tickets are now available for performances of The Nutcracker which will be presented by State Street Dance Studio Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Norris Cultural Arts Center at 1040 Dunham Road, St. Charles.
“We always try to make each year a little more special,” Director Linda Cunningham said.
Preshow performances will be presented by the Fox Valley Children's Choir, a guitarist and a harpist. Special guest artists include former Joffrey Ballet principal dancer Randy Herrera. Dr. Drosselmeyer will be portrayed by Inside Dance Chicago's Michael Darnell.
Among the numerous cast members are Don and Jeanne Cummings of Geneva who are cast as some of the party guests in the ballet. Don Cummings is founder and portfolio manager of Blue Haven Capital and makes his theatrical debut.
"Is it fun? Absolutely," Cummings said. "But being on stage pushes me pretty far outside my comfort zone."
He said he's impressed with not only the State Street Dance students, but the professional dancers as well, whom he said show how physically demanding dance really is.
He and his wife are "nervously" looking forward to the performance.
"It is nerve-wracking, thrilling, scary," he said. "But also gratifying all at the same time and I love it."
Tickets can be purchased online for $22 to $27.
