Sheriff: Stranger Offers Ride to Boy in Western Kane County
The incident took place on Tuesday and is considered suspicious. Here's a description of the man.
An eight-year-old boy on Tuesday was approached by a man he did not know, police said.
The man pulled his car into a driveway and asked the boy, who was outside, if he wanted a ride, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred at about 5:15 p.m. on 46W440 Beith Road near Maple Park.
The boy ran inside his home. His mother heard the vehicle stop. She looked outside and saw the vehicle. She described it as a maroon 1990s model 4-door, possibly a hatchback, with a loud muffler.
The man was described as follows:
- Older male
- White hair
- "Wrinkly" face
Sheriff’s deputies checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. There were no additional reports of this nature in the area.
"With Halloween (on Wednesday) this incident is a reminder for parents to make sure they keep an eye on their children while they are outside the home and to talk to (them) about stranger danger," the Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
