Illinois Tea Party Backs Lauzen for Kane Co. Chairman

The group says they based its decision on Lauzen's previous performance.

State Sen. Chris Lauzen has won the backing of the Illinois Tea Party in his bid for Kane County Board Chairman.

In a statement released Thursday, the Illinois group said Lauzen has shown the "Tea Party ethics of fiscal responsibility, limited government and promoting free markets."

Lauzen is running against Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns for the Republican nomination. The winner in the GOP's March 20 primary will go one to face one of two Democrats, former St. Charles Mayor Sue Klinkhamer or past Carpentersville Mayor Bill Sarto, who also are vying for their party's nomination.

The Illinois Tea Party said they based its endorsement on previous performances and "consistent decisions."

“Chris Lauzen was a Tea Party person, before there was a Tea Party," said John Carlson of St. Charles We the People.

The group's endorsement goes on to say that it is time for someone to solve the problems facing Kane County.

“To my mind there is no question as to whom would best serve Kane County as our Board Chairman and that would be Chris Lauzen because, from personal experience, (he) has always kept his word," said Cherie Hamilton of Tri City Tea.

Current board Chairwoman Karen McConnaughay is running for Illinois' 33rd Senate District. Her term as chairwoman expires Nov. 30.

Read the quote by Cherie. I without presumption feel her grammer is an example of the self proclaimed tea party's representative be dumber. I liken it to the whole contemporary conserative movement, they eat thier young, yea cutting educational opportunities in this country. I hope we citizens put into context this slash and burn selfish mentality when we vote.

I would also add having the conviction to let all know who you really are, John Doe oh my! The EULA on the Patch requires you to NOT use an alias so your comment is like nothing to us who stand for the changes coming.

Perhaps the Patch could report on our dear Mayor Burns and his use of the City of Geneva's e-mail for campaign purposes.
