Update: Skeletal Remains Are That of Missing Woman, Police Confirm
Officials do not suspect foul play in the death of the 52-year-old.
The human remains found in northwest Kane County are indeed those of a 52-year-old woman reported missing earlier this year, police announced Monday afternoon.
Kane County Sheriff’s detectives were able to positively identify the remains as those of Kathey Wilk, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.
“The cause of death is undetermined; however investigators do not suspect that foul play was involved in her death,” the release said.
Wilk, a village of Hampshire resident, was reported missing by her brother. Hampshire Police located a note inside her residence when she was initially reported missing.
Police found skeletal remains and clothing during a Nov. 23 search conducted as part of the missing person case. The discovery was made in a heavily wooded area behind a home on the 1800 block of Cameron Drive in Hampshire.
