Batavia Police: Domestic Dispute, Fraud, More Marker Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Batavia police officers responded to the following incidents on March 2 and late at night on March 1. Here they are in chronological order:

March 1

11:59 p.m.—Warrant Service

A 46-year-old Aurora man was taken to jail after an incident on Batavia's east side.

While investigating a suspicious vehicle, it was determined that the owner of the vehicle was wanted on a warrant out of Kane County for no valid drivers license, according to a police report. The incident occurred on the 1000 block of East Fabyan Parkway.

The offender, Victor A. Madrigal, Jr., of the 2400 block of Georgetown Circle in Aurora, was taken into custody, processed and transported to the Kane County Jail.

At the jail he was turned over to Kane County Sheriff's Office staff to await morning bond call.

March 2

9:17 a.m.—Fraud (Desk Report)

A male reported an incident of fraud from the city's west side.

The victim, who resides on the 500 block of North Van Nortwick, reported that his bank debit card was accessed via wire/Internet to make cash withdrawals and payments to various web sites.

No charges were filed at the time of this report.

10 a.m.—Retail Theft

Someone took over 100 magic markers from a business on the city's west side.

The complainant reported that an unknown offender or offenders took 144 Copic Magic Markers from a display case. The incident occurred on the 400 block of North Randall Road, according to a police report.

The markers are valued at $1,006.56.

The same business reported a similar incident of marker theft on Feb. 3, almost exactly one month prior to this incident. To read more about the February theft, .

10:03 a.m.—Domestic

A verbal dispute was reported between a married couple on the west side, according to a police report.

The husband left the residence without incident.

11:49 a.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A car crash was reported on the city's east side.

A driver from St. Charles was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to a police report. The incident occurred at Kirk Road and Wilson Street.

12:07 p.m.—Identity Theft (Desk Report)

A female victim on the west side reported that she was contacted regarding a purchase of three pairs of shoes valued at $5,188.40.

The victim advised the caller that she had not purchased, nor had she authorized anyone to purchase, the shoes utilizing her credit card. The incident was reported from the 1500 block of Richter Drive, according to a police report.

There was no suspect information.

1:05 p.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A car crash occurred on the 100 block of North Batavia Avenue. Further details on this incident were not available at the time of this report.

6:18 p.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A Geneva driver was cited for failure to yield while turning left at Fabyan Parkway and Viking Drive on the city's west side.

6:34 p.m.—Car Crash: Property Damage

A car crash was reported on the city's east side.

A driver from Plano was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to a police report. The incident occurred at Fabyan Parkway and Kingsland Drive.

7:25 p.m.—Warrant Service

A 28-year-old Batavia man was taken to jail after an incident on the city's east side.

While investigating a call regarding an intoxicated subject on the 400 block of South Van Buren Street, it was determined that Seth E. Vandermolen, of the 300 block of Delia Street, was wanted on two warrants out of Kane County.

The warrants were for contempt and driving while license suspended, according to a police report.

Vandermolen was unable to post bond and was transported to the Kane County Jail to await bond call.

8:57 p.m.—Theft of Lost Property

A male victim from Batavia had his phone taken on the west side.

The male reported dropping his cell phone in front of a restaurant on the 0-99 block of South Randall Road, according to a police report.

After he dropped the phone, an unknown subject picked up the phone and drove away in a silver 4-door car, a witness reported.

10:36 p.m.—Disturbance

A disturbance was reported at a business in downtown Batavia.

The victim, from Batavia, reported that the offender, also from Batavia, had a taken a wallet belonging to another customer. The incident occurred on the 0-99 block of North River Street, according to a police report.

The offender returned the wallet then left the business. The offender then returned to the business and approached the same customer.

At this time the victim intervened and was struck in the face by the offender, the report said. The offender was escorted out of the business.

No complaints were signed.
