Batavia 7-Eleven Sells Winning Lotto Ticket Worth $7.2 Million

This is the second 7-Eleven location in Batavia this year to sell a ticket worth millions. Here's more details.

A trip to a Batavia 7-Eleven this week helped someone become $7 million richer.

The 7-Eleven at 336 East Wilson St. sold a winning lottery ticket worth $7.25 million, according to the Illinois Lottery website.

A Quick Pick ticket sold in Batavia matched all six numbers in Monday’s regular Lotto game drawing.

The winner has not stepped forward as of Tuesday afternoon, Wilson Street franchise owner Rick Niedfeldt told the Kane County Chronicle.

These were the winning numbers:

2 15 18 23 50 52

The extra shot number was 25.

Niedfeldt has never sold a winning ticket worth so much—he hopes the winner is a Batavia resident, the Chronicle's story said.

Players with winning tickets of a $1 million prize or more have to call the lottery’s claim office at 217-524-5147 to redeem their prizes. Also, don’t forget to sign the back of your ticket!

This is the second 7-Eleven location in Batavia in exactly nine months to produce a winning Lotto ticket worth millions. On March 17, a ticket sold at the 710 E. Fabyan Parkway 7-Eleven matched all six numbers of the regular Lotto drawing.

The before-taxes prize was $3 million, and it went to a Batavia resident named James. He planned to use the money to pay for his medical bills after a health scare left him hospitalized during fall 2011.

Illinois schools get almost $623 million every year in Lottery revenue, according to the Illinois Lottery website. That amount is about 9.6 percent of the state’s annual contribution to public K-12 schools.

However, that $623 million is NOT extra for schools. It simply replaces $623 million that would have otherwise come from the State. So, money from the LOOTtery actually helps the State general fund.

Yes, the Lottery "...helps the general fund..." which helps the tax-payers. Let those who wish to play the lottery add to the State's economy any way they like. It's the voters who have messed up the State. Apathy is far worse for Illinois than playing the lottery.

The LOOTtery LIES when they say that LOOTtery money benefits schools. What difference does it make if the LOOTtery provides 9.6% or 96% of the state's annual contribution to K-12 public schools? Either way, the schools are in the same awful shape. The over-all school budget stays the same.
